Urgent: CFMT COVID19 Delta Variant Updated Policies

At the Center for Music Therapy, our continuing priority is the safety of our patients, staff, and community.  As of yesterday, Aug 5th, 2021 Austin Public Health (APH) has raised the Austin area’s COVID  risk-based guidance to Stage 5, its highest level.  In conjunction with our community healthcare partners, APH authorities, and due to the rapid increase in community spread of COVID19 Delta variant throughout Austin and Travis County:  Our CFMT clinical facility located at 711 West 38th Bldg. F-4 will be closed by the end of business day August 7th, 2021 to all in-person therapy sessions.  Please contact your Center for Music Therapy, Inc. therapist to arrange for your sessions to be moved to virtual teletherapy until further notice.

Exceptions for in-person MT services will be considered only for CFMT clients whose music therapy services are addressing life-saving functions and/or critical behavioral health, in which virtual therapy has been shown not to be effective.   For consideration of these patients, MD must order Music Therapy as an essential medical treatment.  If deemed live-saving services, the MT sessions will be held at the person’s home or at the location the patient is currently receiving care. 

We will continue to work closely with the CDC as well as local, state, and federal health officials as this situation evolves and continue to update you.
